Professor, Playwright and Author

Peter Marino is an English Professor at Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, NY. He is also the author of Dough Boy and most recently
Magic and Misery. Both books and his upcoming book, Alice Blunt, are written for young adults.

Peter's plays have been performed in New York and Boston. His play The Grandma Show, has been performed nationally.

Overweight, fifteen-year-old Tristan, who lives happily with his divorced mother and her boyfriend, Frank, suddenly finds that he must deal with intensifies criticism about his weight and other aspects of his life when Frank's popular but troubled, nutrition-obsessed daughter moves in.

Magic and Misery by Peter Marino

Seventeen-year-old TJ adores her best friend, Pan who is handsome, witty, and sophisticated, unlike the redneck boys in her blue-collar town. Pan and TJ are inseparable until Caspar, the thoughtful football player in their English class, enters the picture. TJ has longed for a real boyfriend, but she's used to thinking of herself as the girl who never gets what she wants. Naturally, she's thrilled when Caspar asks her out. But as their romance unfolds, it jeopardizes her friendship with Pan, which becomes strained and unpredictable. Tension between them escalates as the bullying of Pan leads to violence and TJ is unable to help.
